This includes the SAP system software, an operating system, a text editor, and a web browser. The SAP system software can be downloaded from the company’s website and your operating system can be obtained from Microsoft or Apple depending on your computer’s make and model. Once you have these items, you should install your operating system onto your computer according to its instructions. After this is done, you can move on to installing the SAP system software.
This process is relatively simple; just follow the on-screen prompts as they appear. A text editor is a simple tool that is used to create, edit and save files. It may be included with your operating system by default or you can download it from the internet for free once again depending on your computer’s make and model. You cannot actually run any programs that we would normally use but there is a way around this by using what’s called an emulator .
An emulator is a software program that can run on your computer and act as if it was another type of computer. In this case, we will be installing the Windows emulator which will allow us to install and use SAP HANA Studio on our Ubuntu machine.
The first step is to download the installer for the emulator from the following website: http://tools.hana.ondemand.com/win64_EmulatorInstaller_vx.xx.exe (replace ‘xx’ with the latest version number) Once downloaded, open up the file and follow the instructions in order to install it on your machine.
